Church was just over and we were going to leave for the house. I was trying to turn the car round when I heard Muuummyy!!!!!, my son cried, screaming after me and running after the car with tears streaming down his face. Gosh I was just turning the car round, did you think I was going to leave you here? I asked.

Can you imagine my son’s thought? I bathed him, clothed him, fed him, brought him to church, gave him money to put in the offering basket and now He thinks I’m going to leave him in church and go home, for whom? You might ask!

Hmmmm, something said to me, that’s exactly what you do to me. I kept you alive up till now, you didn’t die in that accident, you survived that sickness, I provided for your schooling, gave you that job, gave you a spouse, gave you children etc etc, and now you think i’m going to turn my back on you during this trial; for whom? Says your father in heaven!

Is 54:10 For the heavens shall depart and the hills Be removed, but my kindness shall not depart from you, nor shall my covenant of peace be removed says the Lord who has mercy on you.

We’re just waking up and I love it when my daughter does that, jumps on us, hugs her dad and I, kisses us and tells us she loves us. It brings us so much joy. Can’t imagine if she just got up and walked away like we were not there. Terrible, wouldn’t it be.

Hmmmm, but that’s exactly how we treat God at times. Guess what, God has emotions, He desires our fellowship. Never be too much in a hurry to say good morning, dear Lord, I love you. STOP TREATING ME LIKE I’M NOT THERE He’s saying.

1Jn 1:3….. and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.

It was the middle of the night, it was raining heavily and it had become very cold. My little daughter was sleeping peacefully beside me unaware of what was going on.

I got up, put extra clothing on her, closed the windows to stop the cold air from coming in, you know, just trying to protect her from the cold weather. No wonder Jesus slept in the storm, He knew the kind of Father he had! And the thought came, I love you more than you love this child

Are you in a storm of life? Trust your father enough to know that He will shield you. Is 43:1-2: fear not for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by my name, thou art mine. When thou passeth through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee; when thou walkest through the fire, thou shall not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

Lord please provide for me to pay my rent!!, please provide food for me to eat, please don’t let me die in an accident, please this, please that. Think for a moment, you’ve bought food in the house, you are working hard to get their fees paid, to clothe them etc, etc. and your child comes crying for you to give them what you have worked so hard to provide.

Wouldn’t you feel like they were calling you irresponsible? That’s what you tell God when you whine for things he has just provided .
